## Intro
> There once was a man who could not hide his fear. He wore a mask that transformed his cowardice to rage. In turn, the man transformed into a monster. All that remained was a devouring fury that stalked the night, collecting the fearful faces of others.
## Nemesis (Skip Hunt)
Departing survivors do not have a Hunt phase. Instead, select the Butcher's monster level (it should be 1 greater than the last Butcher encounter) and setup the showdown accordingly.

#### Terrain & Deployment
- 1 Stone Column terrain card (3 columns total), placed in the green spaces
- 1 random terrain card, set up normally.
- Place the Butcher in the center (RED) of the board.
- Place the survivors in the Blue zone.
- The survivors are defending their home. They go first.

## Aftermath
#### Victory
The Butcher is an inspiration. Any victorious survivors may immediately select Axe weapon proficiency, regardless of age milestones. (Any accrued ranks of weapon proficiency are lost when switching to a new weapon type.)

###### Rewards
Roll 1d10 and add the Butcher's level to the result. The group gains any listed resources or gear. Add them to the settlement storage.

When a level 3+ Butcher is defeated roll 1d10:
On a result of 4+, nominate a survivor. The survivor cuts off their own face and fashions it into a mask, Gain the **Forsaker Mask** rare gear. You may gain the benefit once per campaign. If the settlement has [[Momento Mori]], they gain the Forsaker Mask without rolling.
#### Defeat
The Butcher rampages through the settlement! Everyone escapes into the darkness until it leaves, but all resources in the settlement's storage are lost repairing the destruction.
